Volcano is a great thing in the world. Active mount volcanoes have chance to eruption anytime. In an eruption, gases and rock shoot up through the opening and spill over or fill the air with lava fragments. Eruptions can cause lava flows, hot ash flows, mudslides, avalanches, falling ash and floods. Unfortunately not all countries has active volcano in their land. Especially one country who has active volcano and from its material formed sand dunes. Yogyakarta has both of them! While you visiting Yogyakarta, one must things to do is get on a tour around Mount Merapi. Here we could learning new thing about volcano, the impact to people and surrounding, and the benefits after eruption. Exploring Mt. Merapi area by Jeep car. Experienced Jeep driver more than 5 years in Jeep tour with excellent photography skill will share our experience when Mt. Merapi erupted in 2006, 2010, and Mt. Kelud eruption affected Jogja in 2014. Never forget to stop by for having Coffee Merapi while enjoying the glimpse of Mount Merapi. In the end of the day, experience to slide down by sand board inthe sand dunes that has been formed by eruption materials from the volcano.

Sand dunes

Gumuk Pasir or sand dune in Parangkusumo is a great sand dune that resembles a hill which is made by a huge blow of the wind. Some people fell down terribly when they were sliding at first. One or two people failed to slide. Almost all people were struggling when they needed to climb back the sand dunes up. However after some times trying to slide, you will enjoy your self slide down with sand board. This is how we Indonesian people do “ice boarding” which is the sand dunes as we never have snow/ice. This adventure will give you a lot of laughs and so much fun, especially when we are dealing with these black sand dune! Finally, sunset viewing from beach or hill will be perfect to complete your adventure day.
